Monsters

Any idea on how to teach Blake (2 yr. old) that monsters are not going to get him? Thanks to Monster's Inc. we have a daytime fascination and a nighttime concern with monsters. We're not scared - we just like to talk about them.

I have no great words of wisdom, but I LOVED Monsters,Inc.!! Thought it put those monsters in a good light -- where all monsters should be!

When Ashley was about Blake's age, she was TERRIFIED of the Leavelle's dog, Peaches. Did you ever meet Peaches before he went to puppy heaven? He was the straggliest looking, most pathetic thing you've ever seen. Anyway, Ashley had nightmares about Peaches. I used "puppy spray" (some awful spray room freshener that Troy and I couldn't stand) to keep the puppies away from her room at night. So you could talk about Monsters during the day, then spray Monster Spray to keep them away while Blake sleeps. If it's particularly awful room spray (ours was) he will be able to smell it all night and know it's doing the trick! :-) Good luck!

Keep on talking that's the best thing you can do. Curious about something, is he scarred of Santa?

Not scrared of Santa that we know of. We are going to get pictures this week, so we'll see. Our new thing with monsters is to tell them "no, no!".

Yea tell him to his baby days are over and to start being a man. If he gets mad tell him to stop being a wuss and if he cries tell him you'll give him something to cry about. That always worked with me. And at some point give him the speach that second place is the first place loser. That should help in the future. Hey thanks for my Christmas card. Oh wait I'm not a good enough friend anymore to get one. I forgot.
