Silly question to most people, but the answer at the Bundy house tonight is different than most people. Blake just went to bed, on this clear Wednesday morning after going with me and the boys to the Keller High School Varsity Boys Soccer Team 1st round playoff game against Hebron High School.
I picked Blake up at 4:15 in the afternoon on Tuesday, and he was waiting for me in his Keller High soccer shirt, cleats, shin guards and Keller Indian hat. He could not wait. Team dinner at Subway, and Blake eats with the team since he is a part of the team, or at least he assumes he is. Warm up began at 7:35 PM and kick off was at 8:05.
0 - 0 at the end of regular play and still 0's after double over time. We entered into a shootout and eventually after 10 shooters, 3 to 2. Sad way to end a great season. Blake was happy because his buddy Joel scored a goal, but when he saw the sadness of he boys and began to understand that soccer season was over, he too became sad.
Now at 12:25 Blake is asleep, and happy once again, but as I look at these high school boys who just played there last soccer game, I remind myself that they too were just like Blake only a few short years ago. Time will race by for Blake just like it has for those boys, and I want to be mindful of every moment I can.
