Blake's Movie

Here is my movie of Blake. If you have 8 minutes to spare you might enjoy watching. It begins in the present and works backward to his birth.

I still want to encourage anyone out there reading this to go buy the book The Shack and read it. I have talked 6 kids in my class at school into reading it and they are moved by it's message. I have Gil and Izzy reading it and they should comment soon. Any current readers out there of The Shack, please let me know what you think.

I am grateful to God that you still love my family enough to read this blog. Thank you.

Busy Busy Busy.....

I do not have the time I need, or want to do all the things I need or want to do.  Does anyone else out there feel that same way?  I'll have a thought and say, "man I need to blog that pointless information so people can read it." but I run out of time and that is life.

The short story:

Anna is now officially a big girl.  She got her big girl bed and she loves it.  It is the bed that Shar grew up in, and has been painted a total of 6 times now.  Here is the pic of her room and her new/old big girl bed.

Problems:  The bed is bigger than Blake's bed so we had to explain it as a girl bed and boy bed.  For some reason that made him happy that he was not in a girl bed, but in Dalton's old bed.  Anna is just barely tall enough to step up on the side rail, but can't seem to wiggle her butt up on the bed.  Funny just to watch her fight it out.

Blake and Anna had their end of the year program at Y.C.W. in early May.  It was more of a production than a program, and both did great.  Shar has been teaching there and helped in directing her kids during the song portion.  Really am thankful for Y.C.W., and the kids being in school there and Shar getting to work there also.  It is a great blessing for our family.

Spring football has started at Keller High and that means longer hours at the field house and fewer hours at the house.  I would just like to inform you again of the fact that Shar really is a great football coaches wife and I am lucky to have her.  She is ready for summer and a lighter schedule for our family, but her attitude is great and her energy is limitless.  I love you Shar.

Big Blake and Vance are getting married.  Big Blake is the boy that we named our Blake after.  I coached him for 5 years in Belton and we formed a really great friendship.  It helped that he dated the prettiest girl in school and a varsity cheer leader named Kelly.  Kelly was the first person outside of family that we trusted to watch our kids, and she has always loved little Blake and Anna Jo so well.  Big Blake was the best we had a Belton, as a kid, student, athlete and person.  He really was just a great example of what a young man can be, and Kelly was his equal.  After playing baseball at T.C. he earned a scholarship to U.T.A. to play baseball.  We had a chance to catch a home game the other night, sit with his parents and Kelly and remember the old days of Belton High.  Seeing Blake and Kelly again was really great.  We wish them the very best in their future together.  Blake and Anna Jo will both be apart of their wedding this summer and we are looking forward to seeing how that goes.  Should be interesting.

"The Shack"

I have to tell you that I hate to read, especially books.  I can't explain to you how little reading I did in my educational career.  The few books that caught my attention in college were related directly to a course I was taking and even then I skimmed the book at best.

But now I have turned to a new page in my life and I enjoy reading, really good book.  The first book I loved, and read as an adult, recently was called The Road  by Cormac McCarthy. Great book, but dark and gloomy and difficult to enjoy.  "The Road" has been made into a film and is due to be released in November of this year.  The second book, which was given to me on Thursday afternoon and was finished Monday at lunch (I just could not put it down) was "The Shack" by William P. Young.

I know that my words do not carry much weight in the world, but let me please beg you to read this book.  Read it and cry like I did.  That is the honest truth.  I sat there in our big chair in the living room and cried as I tried to turn the pages.  It was so easy to be in this book.

This is a "God Book".  It is called Christian Fiction, and it wrestles with man's view, understanding and relationship with God, Jesus and the Spirit.  It deals with broken people, tragedy, family, and a healing that can only come through God.  Please go to the web site, or here and buy this book.

I would really like to hear from those that read "The Shack".  Please, at any time comment on any post and let me know how this book open your eyes.

A Bit of Life.....

I truly hate working out.  I have always been athletic enough to compete without needing to put in too much extra time or effort.  If you know me at all then you are aware that my physical stature is not my greatest strength, but it has never been my downfall either.  Until now.  I have hit the point in life where, if I don't do something then I will become what I do not what to become.

I have done some sort of exercise everyday since April 2 of this year.  I did not start on April 1 for obvious reasons.  Let me say that I have been faithful in this endeavor, but have been unhappy about it most of the time.  I will continue through May, but will have a bad attitude about it.

Spring Football starts on Monday and I can't wait to see how my guys will do.  We have had a good spring and have made some healthy changes to our defense and the Secondary guys that I coach are ready to go.  I'll let you know how day one of pads ends up.

I am not a reader.  I would say that in my lifetime I have worked out more than I have read and I have not worked out very much.  I did read a very compelling book last year called The Road and I would suggest it to you as a good read, especially for dads .... who have sons...?  I have started a new book and I was introduced to this one from the field house here at Keller High.  I am not going to tell you the title yet, because I have not finished it and I want to process my opinions and feelings about it before you go off and read it in one sitting.  The editorial will come and I will do my best to persuade you to check this book out.

Question to leave you with.  Who is the teacher you remember most from your days in school? Why?  I'm curious what things stick with people through the years.

3 Years Old!!! (almost)

Baby Anna Jo is 3 years old (give or take)!!!  Can you believe it?  We can't.  It is just amazing to think that your baby is already 3 and time is passing by faster than you ever dreamed it would or could.

Anna Jo Bundy was named after her maternal Grandmothers.  Diana's mom is Jo Ann and Ron's mother is Anna, so we reached a name and tried to honor both grandmothers in giving our daughter the name Anna Jo.  I liked it because it is a sweet little girl name, but if she grows up and has some toughness to her than I can call her A.J.  That sounds cool to me.

For a celebration we had a small family party at Trinity Park in Fort Worth.  Shar puts the best parties together and it was perfect, except for the fact that Anna Jo was sick, threw up, and spent the day in Diana's lap.  But Shar still puts on great party.

Anna Jo.  Your mother, brother and I along with Mimi, Pa, Nana and Grandon are all so thankful to God for sending you to us.  You are a wonderful and beautiful little girl and we are so pleased with you.  May God continue to bless you as you grow and we pray that God will use you in wonderful ways in the Kingdom.  Happy Birthday little girl.

Soccer Game # 1

I am sorry but this is just a tough picture of little Blake Samuel Bundy.  I cannot explain to you how fired up he was to have a uniform, shin guards and cleats and be at his first game.

We are involved with Richland Hills Upward Soccer program. Blake is on the mighty Little Polar Bears and he had his first game this past Saturday morning.  After missing both practices in the past 10 days we were unsure of what would happen.

4 years old soccer at church could not be any bigger of a deal. The names of each team and the players are announced over a loud speaker at he beginning of each game and the parents form a run through tunnel for the kids to fly through as they sprint to midfield and the coach.  Substitutions are every 3 minutes, which also marks the end of each of the 12 periods.  12 periods of 4 year old soccer!!!

Of course, for the kids the greatest part of the game was the snacks at the end.  Upwards is designed with group prayers before each game and team prayers lead by the coaches, along with memory verses and bible/moral lessons taught at practice, which we have not been to yet.  All in all it was a great Saturday morning.  I will have to say that Blake did have two goals (there is no goalie) and one really good crash as he was running down the field.  Click here to see some of the best pics from this past Saturday.

Fish, Sex and Camping . . . . . . ?

Great title line isn't it?  How many of you are curious how those 3 things will come together?, or how many of you have an idea of how those things could come together?

Either way, here we go.

Blake caught his first real fish.  We have caught blue gill before, one Spring Break in Sulphur Springs with Aunt Sharon and her parents, but it was on a cane poll and we were feeding the fish and then catching them.  This first real fish was with bait, at a little tank in the front of our subdivision and the cork went under.  Very exciting for Blake to real in the 8 inch sunfish.  It was really good memory for him.

Richland Hills Church does some really great things.  This past weekend there was a speaker at church on Sunday morning that was there to talk to anyone interested in how kids these days are influenced and bombarded by the idea of sexuality.    The speaker was a woman from Lubbock Christian University named Dr. Beth Robinson and she was very impressive.  The facts that she presented were overwhelming on how early and how often children are exposed to sexual advertisement.  4 to 5 times per hour is the average among 5 to 9 year old kids.  Her message was "healthy and frequent communication with children about how sexuality was created by God and should be honored as a gift from God."  "If you are not talking to your kids about sex, then someone else is."  If you are concerned about your communication with your children about sexuality or purity then I encourage you to look at Dr. Robinson's literature.

Blake and I went camping this weekend.  It was father child camping trip with the guys that we are in care group with.  We went out to Lake Mineral Wells and had a great time.  Brandon, who was in charge of the food did an amazing job of cooking chicken fajitas for dinner and fresh donuts for breakfast.  We went fishing off the bank and Blake caught the only fish,  a little channel cat fish that we gladly let back in the water.  Blake loved his tent and new sleeping bag and did a great job of getting dirty, playing with the fire and running the batteries on the flashlight all the way down.  Great time this weekend with my son and I hope to do this many more times with him.

There is a movie about to be produced on the new Imac.  Subject and title will be disclosed at a later time, but be watching.

I'M Sorry

Blake and I had a rough bed time event the other night.  We were telling our stories and while he was going through the details of his "story about when he was little" he reached out and hit me in the face.  We have been working on being nice, not hitting, and being kind to people so I got on to Blake for actually hitting me in a situation that was not accidental.  The moment got worse when he did not see that what he did was wrong.  I said that if you can't say your sorry then we will not finish stories or do prayers, blessing, and songs.  Well, he kept arguing with me so I left the room and after he quit crying he fell asleep.

Now, don't judge my poor parenting and lack of understanding to my child.

It was late, I was tire and several other bad excuses are ready if you want them.

We went to bed.  Fell asleep.  Anna got up around 1:20 and needed a drink.  I fell back asleep until about 2:30 when Blake came into our room.  I asked him what was wrong and he replied, "dad, I'm sorry that I hit you."  I felt just awful.  I walked him back to his room.  He asked if he could finish his story and that he would not hit me.  We picked up his story in the exact spot that he left of, said our blessings and prayers and he returned to sleep with a clean and guilt free heart,...... and I did not sleep the rest of the night.

My kids just amaze me, as I am sure your kids do you.

Look Out Mac!!!!

This is my last post from the old Dell here at the house. I bought my first IMac today and I am about to set it up. I blame Jason in N.Y., and Carl in Austin for pushing me into this purchase, but they swear I will love it. So long P.C. world, and hello to simple and easy to use.

???????????????

It has been a while since I have been to the blog world, and I am lacking the creative thoughts to put something out there worth writing and reading.

Life here in Fort Worth has been busy, as I am sure all of your lives have been, and I have not taken time to do the blog thing lately. I'm lazy, sue me.

We had a great snow her in DFW last week, and I have some great pics of it but the blogger is beating me up and I am unable to upload any of the photos that we took so I can't share them with you. We had a light snow last Tuesday, followed by some sleet and freezing rain. Then on Wednesday it was in the low sixties as far as temperature goes. Then on Thursday morning around 11 a.m. it began to snow and before the evening was over we had about 5 inches in our yard. We went sledding on the hill at the top of the green belt and made a cool snow man in the yard, but I can't share the pics with you because of blogger.

Today after church we went to a new members lunch. It was really cool and if you want the details on what they did then you can email me and I will give them to you. For you Temple people, me met an elder and his wife that were in Temple, at S&W and at Western Hills from '82-85. Phelps is there last name and we had a good time sharing stories with them. They spoke very highly of their time at Western Hills and send there love to any who might remember them.

Curious Thoughts of Mine:
1. Did anyone really think that H.Clinton would carry Texas?
2. Why do good athletes make a coach great, and bad athletes make a coach bad?
3. I really miss my tree trimming business, except for falling out of trees and cutting my leg.
4. God didn't save me so I can get to heaven. God saved me so I can live as Christ while I'm living. (RHCC this morning.)
5. I am looking for a way to make a large sum of money without doing very much work. Any Ideas?

Have a great week.
